Orchard is an open source ASP.NET MVC based Content Management System(CMS).
Much like WordPress, it allows us to setup a new website or a blog quickly and enables the user to mange and quickly create content on the site.That's great coz WordPress is a very popular CMS and some people even have businesses setup around creating WordPress based sites. WordPress however uses Php and MySql technologies for its framework. WordPress is a community based CMS and there's a huge ecosystem around WordPress. Orchard is a also quickly growing community based CMS and interested ASP.NET MVC developers can conrtibute. So if you are an ASP.NET MVC developer, take a look at the source code and maybe you will have something to throw in!
Orchard is another gift to the people of the .NET world. Note that there are already popular CMS tools such as DotNetNuke that targets the ASP.NET world, but Orchard is an ASP.NET MVC based framework.
